"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do
than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
– Mark Twain
It was this particular quote I read from the Philippine Panorama magazine, published April 6, 2008 that prompted me to do a travel blog. My aim is to chronicle my travels here in the Philippines. This includes food trips, vacations, and even itty bitty things about my dear country. At the moment, there is still no plans to travel abroad due to financial constraints. For now, I will just explore my own country. In a way, I am also aiming to promote the country’s tourism. There’s a lot of ungrateful Filipinos who speak nothing but negative things about the Philippines, and I want to change that.
Aside from that, I want to have something to look back when I am all wrinkly and old. Part of growing old is forgetting parts of the past, and since Internet will always be here, talking about my travels and backing it up with pictures make things immortal. If my time on earth was up, at least I know I have this blog for the future generations to read. Of course, prestige comes with the package, too. Having to see the pictures I took and the places I've set foot to not only gives me that warm feeling of satisfaction, somehow I now people reading this blog can also have that "Wish I was there" feeling. Actually, it's a reason why I wanted to learn more about photography. I want to have a blog that would capture the beauty of my country so good the readers would wish they were there, too. Self satisfaction is good, but knowing people liked what I have written gives me more satisfaction. Having a travel blog isn't just about traveling... it's also a gateway for me to improve myself - in writing and in photography.
It is not a secret that I don’t have much money to go on traveling. Whenever I would put a shout out of me going places, people thought I am this well of person who can sustain her love for traveling, but really, I am not. I just know how to use my resources wisely. For me, as long as I can enjoy the place, I am already happy. Not having money to "burn" will never prevent me from discovering the wonderful places my country has to offer. If I can't go out of town, then I will just explore my own Metro Manila since there are parts of it I still haven't seen. Traveling is all about discovering things and creating memories. If I can get to do that, I am a happy traveler.
Since I cannot travel everyday to feed this blog, I apologize if some of the post will be taken from the past. Before this blog was created, I already owned a travel blog - Jenn Was Here - but problems kept piling up and I just can't retrieve it anymore. There were also a lot of places I’ve seen that I want to talk about, so please give me the privilege to take a look and grab something from the past. Although 2008 was the year that I traveled the most, I decided to start with the 2009 travels with this blog. I promise to make this blog a worthy read, and I do hope you’d enjoy what I can offer. I am not a good writer, nor a good photographer, so as early as now, I want to apologize for the minimal errors I will encounter. Of course, not all the post in this blog will be about my travels. Sometimes, I might blog about my travel plans, or list down my travel wish list. All in all, this blog will tackle anything and everything about traveling.
Let me also take this opportunity to thank the ever kind Willa. She helped me all the way from the purchasing of the domain, to the setting of the whole blog. Without her help, this blog will never really come to life. Thanks a lot, Willa. Go ahead and check out her site here. Don’t forget to leave some lovin’ okay?
So without further much adieu, I welcome you to my humble blog. Please enjoy your stay, and do come back again soon. I will try to update this blog as much as I can.
